TOPIC: TIME TO MAKE HASTE

MEMORISE : And David said unto Ahimelech , And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? For I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste. 1 Samuel 21:8

Read : 1 Samuel 21:8-10

MESSAGE:

The Almighty God wants man to obey Him not only completely, but urgently as well. It is unfortunate that some children of God do not know that every command or directive from God is time-bound. There was a time we were faced with a need in our church. I discussed this with one of my children who I knew could meet the need. ’’I will pray about it”, he replied and left. Although this happened on a weekend, the Lord however used someone else to meet that need before the following day. When this son of mine came to say he would like to meet that particular need, it was too late. I told him someone else had been used by God to meet His need. There and then he learnt his lesson.
There are lots of blessings attached to doing God's business quickly. Take for instance, the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:1 9 that we should go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This we must do without hesitation. Our failure to do this has created room for the enemy to establish the chaos that is Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and other forms of religious fanaticisms that plague the beautiful world which our Father in heaven created for His glory and pleasure. When Jesus asked the disciples to pray at the garden of Gethsemane, it was for a purpose. The purpose was that they may not enter into temptation (Matthew 26:41). They did not do this in haste and alas the most outspoken and seemingly bravest of them all betrayed the Master! In today's reading, we read about David and his attitude towards his king's business. If you ask me: how well would we fare in the business of the Kingdom if we have the same mindset as David had? I would say: the world would be taken over by the Church within a few years. We should not be slothful in Kingdom business. Let us go all out to evangelise and teach sound doctrines of the Christian faith without fear or favour. Also, we must be prompt in attending to responsibilities in our secular work in obedience to the word of God in Colossians 3:22-23. May the King of kings reward us handsomely as we do His work hastily in Jesus Name. Happy NewYear!

PRAYER POINT
Father, forgive me for the loss and pain my slothfulness have cost your kingdom and my assignment . In this New Year, help me to respond in haste to what you will have me do.
